CNY celebration

27 Feb:

It was a busy day, with CNY lunch gathering at my ex-colleague's house followed by dinner with XDs and JMs at Bugis.

It has sort of become a habit that we will meet annual for our CNY gathering. This time round, its at Fredrick's place and boy was his place spacious and very well renovated! But of cos, since he spent a bomb ($55k) just on renovation itself. Let our place, he also hacked 2 room to combine into 1 so that part of the master bedroom is the study area. This year's theme was potluck (at first wanted steamboat, but as there are too many of us and only 1 pot, decided to do portluck instead).

We had:

1) home made yu sheng by fredrick and wife

2) home made Olive rice (very delicious! from Bev and Marcus) - if u can see from the pic, they brought 1 WHOLE POT with the rice cooker..lol,

3) home made Vinegar Pork trotters (zhu jiao cu) and barley with beancurd skin (fu zhu yi mi tang shui) from Calvin and wife

4) 933 curry chicken bread and fried sotong from me and Jase (haa both of us dun have parents to cook for us, thus we decided to call and order)

5) Apple and durian strudel from Wenyi (dun think it has anything to do with my forever craving of durain, but the durian strudel is good!!),

6) Fried sotong ball from Yenling,

7) Chicken wings and meat balls from Aug and Jessica and

8 Cut fruits salad from Cindy and Alex

Ya, everyone wanted to take photos with the pregnant woman (roll eyes) and upon seeing the pics, they say i am hiding my tummy..lol..

After the heavy lunch, we settled down to a game of Blackjacks. Considering the fact that i nv really won any rounds when gambling during CNY in my previous years, so i guess this could be due to bb luck :P

As we are still early for dinner and we are stuff to our neck with food from lunch, Jase and I decided to go Bugis Junction to shop ard and hopefully to disgest our lunch in time to enjoy dinner.

Dinner was at Tian Tian Xiao Chu (steamboat) at Tan Kwee Lan street. Its a farewell dinner for Leting as she would be gg overseas to study...for 4 months only..haha but this little mei mei really hate to go to China, thus was not looking forward of leaving Singapore.

As usual, soup based is tom yam and herbal chicken.

The most expensive food in the menu! haha , prawn and scallop.
